Saskatchewan Continuing Care Assistant programs require a Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C certificate prior to clinical placement in long-term-care facilities and personal care homes, so care staff can respond to adults in an emergency and use an AED.
A recognized, up-to-date first-aid/CPR certificate is the way to meet this requirement; it is in addition to the assistant's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
