Becoming a foster family in Saskatchewan means providing a safe, temporary home to a child or youth in care. Among the requirements: holding a current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate, which is mandatory for all Saskatchewan foster parents.

In Saskatchewan, certification in Standard First Aid and CPR is mandatory for all foster parents. The required standard is Standard First Aid with CPR (Level B) recognized by Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety, with recertification every three years, alongside mandatory caregiver training such as the PRIDE core modules.
The certificate is coordinated, tracked and confirmed through the provincial foster families association and the Ministry of Social Services. It is one requirement in addition to the home study and the assessment of your suitability to foster, and must be kept current.
